Using Tarot to reach our potential
by Lena Munday
Tarot provides us with the direction and guidance we need to lead us towards achieving what we want.
BUT . . .
It is important to remember that Tarot, as with any form of spiritual guidance, will highlight the needs and truth of the spirit, which may not always be what we think we want.
We can all get caught up in doing the ‘right’ thing by others, conforming when we see no other way or being untrue to ourselves, but the cards can help us to pinpoint how and why these blocks to true happiness are occuring and help us to feel inspired to take positive action in healing them.
An example is the often misunderstood Devil card. This card can appear in a reading when somebody is out of touch with themselves, divorced from their path and seeking refuge in addictions, surface pleasures or harmful emotional patterns. It means nothing more sinister than this, yet it is representative of that most dangerous of traps – lack of honesty with the self.
Other cards in the reading will often show the clients’ talents, strengths and opportunities which lie under the blocks that they may be unconsciously creating.
This idea of personal responsibilty is key in understanding and being guided by Tarot. A reading is not a set of prophecies set in stone but a way of illuminating our soul path’s potential and a chance to use this insight for our own growth and at the same time for the greater good. When we grow and shine and reach our potential, this light brightens the lives of all around us.
Tarot courses in the news . . .
Turns out its not just The Academy of Dreams that is excited by Joanna Watters looming weekend workshops on How to be a better Tarot Card Reader. We are also getting mentioned in the press! all very exciting!
We were featured in the March edition of Chat it’s Fate magazine, which gave us a short piece on the up and coming workshops:
“Don’t Miss: On the cards…It’s Fate Tarot expert Joanna Watters is holding a course called ‘Be a Better Tarot Reader’ at the London School of Tarot, Quantum House, 66 Churchway, London NW1 1LT on 6-7 March and 13-14 March. It costs £75 a day or £135 for the weekend. Suitable for those with a basic knowledge of tarot or who need a refresher.”
How to be a better tarot card reader with Joanna Watters
The excitement is rising here at The Academy of Tarot as the date looms closer to our 2 weekend workshops in March with Joanna Watters on How to be a Better Tarot Card Reader.
I have been recommending Joanna’s books for years, so it is a real pleasure to host her workshops here at the Academy. Her books are both practical and mystical at the same time, with plenty of examples from her own practice. Joanna is a wonderful warm woman! She lives on an island in Greece and runs her own summer school from there. We are truly honoured that she is now visiting the UK for one month. Her prices are excellent so this is a fantastic opportunity to receive teaching from a world class expert.
If you can’t make it to London for one of Joanna’s workshops you could always treat yourself to a fantastic summer holiday and book one of her workshops at Joanna’s Greek Island Summer School!
What in the world is Tarot?
by Lena Munday.
Tarot is a wonderful tool for providing us with direction and guidance when we are at stuck points in our life. But what in the world is . . Tarot?
For me, Tarot is a mode of expression, a language in and of itself. In being an ancient language of symbols it has the capacity to be interpreted and explored in a myriad of ways. Paradoxically, its ancient origins do not preclude or inhibit modern day usage and relevance – the images and archetypes contained within the cards are timeless, universal and at the same time individually personally significant. A living illustration of the connectedness between all on the earth.
So the Tarot mirrors and maps the pathways to wisdom that exist in each of us. A layout is a journey, with avenues of possibility determined by our own choices. The celtic cross layout begins with the significator, a card that represents the immediacy of ‘where we are now’. As a beginning point this acts as a focus, reminding us throughout the reading what we have to build upon.
